U.S. interagency hosts webinar on the zoonotic origins of the COVID-19 virus

USAID and the U.S. Department of State jointly hosted a webinar on the detection, prevention, and mitigation of current and future zoonotic diseases on Thursday, June 25.

Health and wildlife experts from USAID/RDMA, the Thai National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, University of Indonesia Depok, and World Conservation Society Hanoi discussed the zoonotic origins of COVID-19; and how scientists, governments, and civil society could work together to contain and defeat COVID-19. So what? Cooperation across the U.S. government interagency to counter wildlife trafficking—a requirement of the END Act—has noticeably strengthened over the past several years, as evidenced by sustained growth in joint workshops and trainings.
