This event is part of social mobilization activities to engage Buddhist monks and nuns to amplify the messaging of USAID Wildlife Asia’s campaign to reduce consumer demand for ivory and tiger products driven by spiritual beliefs in their power to bring good luck and prevent harm.

According to USAID Wildlife Asia’s 2018 consumer research in Thailand, monks are major influencers of these beliefs.  Engaging these spiritual leaders to publicly champion campaigns and amplify messaging against consumption of wildlife products will help counter these beliefs, reduce consumption, and protect endangered animals
